Sunrise, Elephants, and Waterfalls Around Chiang Rai, Thailand
Updated: Dec 24, 2018
Cool air and a chill atmosphere are what we need some time of the year. When the rain stops, it is time for the cool breezes to sweep in. This phenomenon let us know winter has replaced the rainy period. Winter normally starts from mid of October to end of February.
No doubt, Chiang Rai is among the top places to be in during winter time. Less than 20 kilometers from Chiang Rai's downtown, The Sea of Mist "Ya - Fu" viewpoint is a treat for sunrises.

The diversity of landscape, nature, and culture make Chiang Rai interesting.

You probably have seen some beautiful sunrises before and I'm sure we agree this one is spectacular.

This small village rests in the mountains en route to the mountain peak where we viewed the sunrise. The village has a school, a Thai convenience store, and many smiles!

After watching the sunrise we continued driving around and stumbled across an Elephant Camp. The Elephant Camp in Chiang Rai offers trekking options with some that will take groups through jungles and rivers.

Getting out of the city and exploring the mountain ranges is among my favorite activities to do in Chiang Rai.
The province is surrounded by mountains on both the east bordering Laos and the west bordering Myanmar. The mountains are perfect place for much trekking in Chiang Rai while visiting the hill tribes in the area.
Huay Mae Sai Waterfall - Here is the Location

Huay Mae Sai Waterfall is in Chiang Rai and as beautiful as it is, no one knows about it.
The two-tiered waterfall is located about 20KM from the town in the middle of the forest, nearby a nice Lahu Ethnic Hill Tribe.

There is a short walk from the parking area to the Huay Mae Sai Waterfall, use caution when wet.
The lower level has a deeper pool of water and is great for swimming. The upper level has a taller waterfall and a good place to sun-tan on the rocks.
